In the early to mid 1980’s Jim started buying and restoring GTO’s. Soon he, Dave and
Rodney started modifying engines in Jim’s personal ‘65 GTO street cars and then
another ’65 GTO racecar for Rodney.
David got his first Trans Am racecar a few years later. People started to notice they were doing really well at the track and asked if they can make their engines run that
way too. Very few rebuilders out there knew how to build Pontiac engines correctly.
They converted an old barn into a shop and started doing this full throttle… Over the years they have grown to a full machine shop with dyno and 5 axis CNC, doing everything in-house. Butler Performance also has a huge parts inventory and ship parts and engine kits all over the world.
Over the last several years, Butler has started a separate division and website focusing on GM / LS engines due to the popularity of the 4th Generation Pontiacs including GTO, Trans Am’s and G8’s.
